"Yeah, Yeah, you go on and bang your bongos..."- (Tom Hanks' That Thing You Do!)

I've been listening to my favorite drummer, Zach Kelly.

This kid has a way of laying the drum notes the way a singer lays the vocal melody. He's a rhythm drummer. Like Ed Van Halen is a Rhythm guitarist. He drives the band. He's the transmission. Keeping the tunes rolling forward, applying torque and force when necessary.

And, when a gentle cruise in the moon light is required, he drops the top, and gives a soulful performance, of the symphotyc receptions in his inner sanctum.

MAN1-"TIMING"

Prashant Nunna once said: "Ringo Star is the greatest drummer of all time, because he is the perfect time keeper."

Buddy Miles received a similar complement from Mitch Mithchell: "He's like a cement mixer."

Kelly defies this kind of comparison, because he's unique in his time keeping.
He kind of just 'feels' the spirit of the moment, and keeps the time the gods are asking for... he's like the drummer in the house band on Mt. Olympus! He creates a musical Baccanalia that spills it's drunken soulfulness all over the willing beer slut that is the crowd. Live, this drummer is an indisputable monster.

What Zach Kelly brings to the section is Rhythm. I can't imagine how Eric Harris could do his voogoodvoodoo, with out Kelly's 'Eye of Newt, Pinch of powdered Bats wing'...

Man I fucking love this band.
